One of the biggest surprises for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2019 was the emergence of rookie outfielder Alex Verdugo. After a solid spring, Verdugo made the Dodgers’ Opening Day roster for the first time in his career.
He began the season as the team’s fourth outfielder, but when A.J. Pollock went down with an injury in April, Verdugo moved into a starting role and never looked back.
In 106 games, he hit .294/.342/.475 with 22 doubles, 12 home runs, 43 runs scored and 44 RBI. Unfortunately, Verdugo went down with a back injury at the beginning of August and never recovered.
