As expected, Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City this week as he works to return from bulging discs in his back. Gonzalez was joined Thursday night by Rob Segedin, who also began a rehab assignment.
Gonzalez started at first base and batted third, played five innings and went 1-for-3 with a single in his first at-bat of the game. Gonzalez struck out in the top of the sixth and was removed at the start of the bottom half of the inning.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts hasn’t stated what the length of Gonzalez’s rehab assignment will be, though did say the veteran first baseman will conclude it with High-A Rancho Cucamonga.
