LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers confirmed the hiring of Alex Anthopoulos as vice president of baseball operations on Tuesday.

The 38-year-old Anthopoulos, formerly general manager of the Blue Jays, is the seventh member of the current Dodgers front office to either have been or currently be a Major League general manager.

According to a club release, Anthopoulos will assist in all aspects of baseball operations, working with president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, general manager Farhan Zaidi and senior vice president of baseball operations Josh Byrnes.

"We are thrilled to be bringing Alex on board," Friedman said.
