One of the biggest pieces of news to come out of Friday afternoon will likely be the drastic alterations to the MLB draft. Per Jeff Passan of ESPN, the draft is changing over to a five-round format. The Dodgers could potentially benefit from this, seeing as how any undrafted players are free to sign with teams for a maximum of just $20,000.
Passan reports that the original ten-round proposal was turned down, though it was rumored to be two separate five-round drafts. This represents a significant blow for underrated or unnoticed talent that would normally be picked up late in the draft.
