Dodgers miss too many chances vs. Cards

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers' August swoon continued Tuesday night with a 5-2 loss to the Cardinals, a ninth defeat in the last 13 games leaving them 3 1/2 games behind first-place Arizona.

Yadier Molina and Marcell Ozuna slugged two-run homers, Molina's off starter Hyun-Jin Ryu in a three-run third inning, as the Dodgers for a second consecutive night couldn't capitalize after putting a Cardinals rookie starter on the ropes, this time it was Southern California native Daniel Poncedeleon.
