LOS ANGELES -- After Manager Dave Roberts gave him the day off Saturday night, Yasiel Puig returned to the Dodgers’ lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the San Diego Padres.
For the first time in 2016, he will hit leadoff.
Roberts said he hoped it would reinforce the importance of getting on base for the slumping Puig, who has hit .137 since April 14 and has just one hit in his past 18 at-bats.
“You look at the last week, where he has been coming out of the strike zone, being extra aggressive swinging at balls out of the zone,” Roberts said.
