SAN FRANCISCO -- Once more with feeling.
Left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu will restart his minor-league injury-rehabilitation assignment Sunday with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga. Ryu is scheduled to throw two innings and approximately 30 pitches.
Right-hander Brandon McCarthy is also beginning a rehab assignment with the Quakes Saturday. McCarthy is returning from Tommy John surgery last May.
In both cases, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts indicated the rehab assignments will last four to five starts.
Ryu has already tried this once. Trying to return from surgery to repair a torn labrum over a year ago, Ryu made three rehab starts in May (two with Rancho Cucamonga and one with Triple-A Oklahoma City).
