LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers’ overworked bullpen that has thrown 16 1/3 innings in the first three games of this weekend series against Milwaukee got a fresh arm for the finale on Sunday when Carlos Frias was recalled from Triple-A.
Frias, a 26-year-old right-hander, made 32 appearances the past two seasons and had a 4.66 ERA, but has not pitched in the majors in 2016.
“We needed some coverage and some length,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.
In the minors this season, he had been used as a starter, but is now the ninth member of the club’s bullpen.
