Dodgers leave Arizona with pitching staff set

PEORIA, Ariz. – The Dodgers still have decisions to make. But they left Arizona with their pitching staff set.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed Wednesday that Brandon McCarthy will be in the Dodgers’ starting rotation and Alex Wood will open the season in the bullpen.

“Both of those guys are major-league starting pitchers,” Roberts said. “Right now for where we’re at, it makes sense for Alex to go to the ’pen.”

McCarthy will start the fourth game of the season, at home against the San Diego Padres. Left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu will follow and make only his second major-league start since 2014 in the Dodgers’ first road game of the regular season at Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies.
