The Los Angeles Dodgers claimed right-hander Brett Honeywell off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates over the weekend, per MLB transactions. The Dodgers are the fifth team he’s played for since his 2021 debut.
Wasting no time, Honeywell debuted with the Dodgers in Sunday’s 4-3 loss to the Detroit Tigers, becoming the 31st pitcher to suit up for the 2024 Dodgers in their 95th game of the season. He started what was supposed to be bullpen game and pitched three innings, didn’t allow a run, and notched two strikeouts.
Honeywell’s strong performance was easily lost in the aftermath of a second consecutive blown ninth-inning lead to close the first half.
