The Dodgers lost a bunch of talent in the Rule 5 draft on Thursday, that’s the bad news. But the good news is that they were also able to get a few good names that were available from other teams. In even better news, they were taken in the minor league round, so they do not need to be added to the 40-man roster.
The Dodgers took catcher Ryan January from the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round of the Triple-A phase. January was an eight-round draft pick of the D-Backs back in 2016 out of San Jacinto College in Houston.
