The Dodgers braced themselves Monday for the possibility of opening the season without one of their most valuable players.
Justin Turner was hit on the left hand by a pitch in the first inning of Monday's exhibition game. Turner winced, took a few steps toward the Dodgers dugout, and eventually rolled on the ground in pain. He left the game immediately, then left the ballpark to get X-rays.
Replays showed the pitch, from Oakland's Kendall Graveman, appearing to hit Turner on the lower part of the hand, close to the wrist.
"I'm sure he's going to be fine," pitcher Alex Wood said.
