When the Dodgers acquired Joey Gallo from the Yankees at the trade deadline, they hoped a change of atmosphere would help Gallo reset and regain his form as one of the premier power hitters in the game.
We’re not sure they knew how literal that “change of atmosphere” idea was, though. Sure, the New York crowds booed Gallo mercilessly and he was unable to go to the deli around the corner for fear of being heckled by harsh Yankee fans, so getting away from a fanbase that had turned on him was important.
But, as it turns out, just getting out of New York itself was nice for Gallo.
