Glendale, Ariz. – The Dodgers have been baseball’s biggest investor in the Cuban market. So far, the return on that investment has been modest, to say the least.
The signing of right-hander Yaisel Sierra to a six-year, $30 million contract was made official Sunday and Sierra was added to the 40-man roster. Starting with the signing of outfielder Yasiel Puig nearly four years ago, the Dodgers have now invested over $200 million in nine Cuban players ranging in age from 18-30 years old. That tab that grows when the tax for exceeding their international signing bonus pool is added.
