NEW YORK – Hyun-Jin Ryu might bring stability to the Dodgers’ starting rotation someday. That day won’t fall in the next two weeks.
Ryu suffered minor shoulder soreness after his last rehabilitation start for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the left-handed pitcher will skip his next turn in the rotation as a precaution.
Ryu saw a jump in velocity – he touched 90 mph for the first time in almost two years – that likely contributed to the soreness. He threw four shutout innings in the game, his first at Triple-A.
While the plan still calls for Ryu to make another two rehabilitation starts, the target date for his return is uncertain.
