The Los Angeles Dodgers hired Dontrelle Willis as a special assistant, which the former MLB pitcher announced himself on social media. Manager Dave Roberts confirmed Willis is now part of the Dodgers front office, but didn’t yet have specifics on the role.
“Anytime you can get the knowledge and energy is a good thing for any organization,” Roberts said. “We’ll know more later.”
Willis won the National League Rookie of the Year Award and earned an All-Star Game selection in 2003. Two years later the left-hander went 22-10 with a 2.63 ERA, leading the league with seven complete games and five shutouts.
