The Dodgers brought on Trayce Thompson as a way to help fill in the gaps with Mookie Betts out. There was never any hope that he would post a 150 wRC+, crush a bunch of homeruns, or be the superstar that Mookie has been in his career.
But what he does bring is athleticism and the ability to cover ground in the outfield. It also stops the Dodgers from using guys in the outfield who don’t play there very often. you can look to Eddy Alvarez’s shaky defense out there for reference.
But on Wednesday afternoon, Thompson reminded Dodgers fans what he is capable of.
