The Los Angeles Dodgers were scoreless before a rain delay for a second consecutive night, then they found success against Kyle Gibson once play resumed and went on for an 8-2 win against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Presumably in anticipation of another rain delay, the Phillies scratched Gibson from his scheduled start. After play was halted for 53 minutes, he took the mound for the third inning and retired the first three batters faced.
Gibson then ran into trouble when Corey Seager’s leadoff walk in the fourth wound up being cashed in by Cody Bellinger. Bellinger sent the 13th pitch he saw for an opposite-field home run that gave the Dodgers a 2-0 lead.
