GLENDALE, Ariz. – For Jamey Wright, “it was just playing catch.” And then it wasn’t.
At the start of December, Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw called his former teammate and fellow Dallas-area resident to see if he would be his ‘throw partner’ as Kershaw began his workouts in anticipation of the 2016 season. Wright and Kershaw had done that the previous three or four years.
This time, though, Wright was coming off nine months of inactivity, having sat out the 2015 season after being released by the Texas Rangers at the end of spring training.
