Just like the baseball regular season, a single baseball game takes some time to fully develop. Even enough time to go from villain to hero. That was essentially Gavin Lux’s character arc on Sunday.
In the top of the second, Lux let a routine ground out that would’ve ended the inning dribble between his legs while in the shift. His flub allowed the Phillies to post the first run of the game, plus three more, to race out to a 4-0 lead on starter Michael Grove who was making his Dodgers debut.
The Dodgers clawed back and trailed the Phillies 4-3 heading into the bottom of the ninth.
