Former Dodgers reliever and Cy Young winner ‘Iron Mike’ Marshall passed away at the age of 78. Marshall was the first reliever to win the prestigious away back in 1974 playing with the Dodgers. It was one of 2 seasons that Marshall pitched in Los Angeles.
The team revealed that Marshall passed away at his home in Zephyrhills, Florida on Monday night. The long-time pitcher had been receiving hospice care prior to his death. Both the Cardinals and Dodgers toom a moment of silence in his honor prior to the game on Tuesday night.
Marshall did not get a chance to win a World Series with the Dodgers, but he did lock down the 1 game they won in the 1974 series against the A’s.
