The Dodgers have made official their six-year contract with Cuban pitcher Yaisel Sierra, a deal worth a reported $30 million. The pact had been delayed as Sierra secured a visa.
Sierra, 24, pitched for five seasons in Cuba’s Serie Nacional with a 4.23 earned-run average across 300 innings.
Sierra went 5-12 with a 6.10 ERA and 11 saves in 2014 for Holquin in his final season in Cuba.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the team shifted pitcher Frankie Montas (rib resection surgery) to the 60-day disabled list.
