Los Angeles Dodgers starter Dustin May will miss the rest of the 2024 season after undergoing surgery for an esophageal tear, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
The 26-year-old right-hander was set to make a rehabilitation assignment but was recently feeling pain in his throat and stomach during a dinner. He was then diagnosed with the esophageal tear, and will not be able to participate in physical activity for two months.
May has continued to deal with injuries throughout the last four years of his career. He tore his UCL in May of 2021, causing him to miss the majority of the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
