SAN FRANCISCO -- Manager Dave Roberts remained noncommittal about naming a starting pitcher for the Dodgers if a tiebreaker Game 163 against Colorado is needed Monday to determine the National League West champion. But he stressed that avoiding a Wild Card Game on Tuesday is "very, very important. Very high importance."
That would indicate the club is leaning toward starting Walker Buehler, who was held out of Sunday's regular-season finale and replaced by a rested Rich Hill. If not Buehler, the most likely option would be a bullpen game, with Alex Wood, Ross Stripling, Kenta Maeda, Caleb Ferguson and Julio Urias available for multi-inning outings.
