Dodgers designate Tepesch, recall Taylor

PITTSBURGH -- The Dodgers designated for assignment Friday night starting pitcher Nick Tepesch on Saturday and recalled infielder Chris Taylor.

Tepesch, given a shot at being the fifth starter, allowed five runs in four innings in Friday night's 8-6 loss to the Pirates.

Taylor, who was acquired by the Dodgers on June 19 from the Seattle Mariners for pitcher Zach Lee, was batting .500 (6-for-12) with three runs scored, three doubles and three RBIs in his short stay with Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 25-year-old hit .312 with 41 runs, 19 doubles, four triples, three home runs, 29 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 63 games with Triple-A Tacoma, including a .
