The Los Angeles Dodgers are optioning former top prospect Miguel Vargas back to the minor leagues, according to Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times, who reported the news via Twitter/X:
Vargas’ option will be the corresponding move once the Dodgers’ trade for utility man Cavan Biggio becomes official.
Vargas, 24, was slashing .302/.442/.590 with eight home runs and 39 RBIs across 181 plate appearances. His brief time in the majors was limited; he slashed .250/.304/.550 in eight games and 20 at-bats.
Biggio, a 29-year-old utility player, was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays last Friday.
