The Los Angeles Dodgers signing Trevor Bauer to a record-breaking contract during the offseason was met by mixed reaction due to his outspoken personality and missteps on social media, and to a lesser extent amid some questions over how talented the right-hander is.
Bauer has been adamant about being capable to pitch to last year’s Cy Young Award level again, and also voiced a willingness to learn from past transgressions. Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said that was a topic of discussion he and president Stan Kasten had with Bauer prior to the signing.
Thus far the right-hander has largely agitated opposing fans but now is the subject of a police investigation for alleged assault.
