LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers' impending deal with veteran right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma has hit a snag at the physical-examination stage, with a source saying it could still happen but has become complicated.
The Japanese media reported Thursday that Iwakuma failed his physical, causing the Dodgers to back out of a reported three-year agreement for $45 million.
Iwakuma, 34, has had injury issues in recent seasons. He missed time in 2014 with a finger ailment and in 2015 with a lat strain, but closed out the season well. Neither of those issues is likely to be the source of the recent discord.
