While the Chicago Cubs made Craig Counsell the highest-paid manager last offseason — giving him a five-year, $40 million deal — Roberts is expected to reset the market in terms of AAV. The years, however, are a different story.
According to Jack Harris of the LA Times, Roberts and the Dodgers were believed to have been discussing a four-year contract structure earlier this spring.
