At last, the Craig Kimbrel sweepstakes are over. The free agent closer signed a three-year deal (really 2.5) with the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday evening finally putting an end to one of the two big free agents who were waiting to be signed. The Dodgers reportedly had talks with Kimbrel but it’s easy to see why talks never got serious, Kimbrel was simply not a fit for the Dodgers.
The primary reason he did not fit into the Dodgers’ plans was the lack of an opening at closer. The Cubs signed Brandon Morrow to be their closer but he has been injury plagued over the last year.
