Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw shut down indefinitely with renewed pain in back; Hyun-Jin Ryu goes on DL

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Somewhere there must be a left-handed voodoo doll dressed in blue bristling with pins.

Any optimism the Dodgers were feeling about the number of starting pitchers they expected to have healthy soon disappeared into an MRI tube. On the same day they returned Hyun-Jin Ryu to the DL after just one start, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed that Clayton Kershaw “didn’t feel great” after all following his 60-pitch simulated-game session Saturday in Los Angeles.

The lower back pain that landed Kershaw on the DL three weeks ago has returned – “same area, same symptoms,” Roberts said.
