Dodgers claim Brooks Brown off waivers from Rockies, DFA Jim Johnson

LOS ANGELES -- There is never not a time for roster moves in Major League Baseball. The Dodgers on Wednesday claimed pitcher Brooks Brown off waivers from the Rockies, and to make room on the 40-man roster designated pitcher Jim Johnson for assignment.

Brown, 30, was 1-3 with a 4.91 ERA in 36 games with the Rockies in 2015, with 20 strikeouts and 16 walks in 33 innings, He pitched parts of two seasons with the Rockies in 2014 and 2015.

The right-hander was drafted in the supplemental first round in 2006 by the Diamondbacks, and has spent the last 10 years in the Arizona, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Colorado systems.
