LOS ANGELES – The Dodgers’ and the Braves’ bullpens entered Wednesday night’s series finale at Dodger Stadium having produced entirely opposite results this season.
The Dodgers’ relievers had largely been great; the Braves’, not so much, nearly two runs worse per nine innings by ERA.
Sometimes, things don’t go exactly as they’re supposed to go. On Wednesday, the Dodger relievers imploded in the eighth inning; Atlanta’s Jim Johnson and Jason Grilli shut the door, barely, and the Braves salvaged one win, 3-2, out of their three-game series.
