Dodgers can't complete comeback, fall in extras

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers have had an interesting first half of a campaign. After falling as many as nine games out of first place in the National League West in early May, the reigning NL champions managed to take over sole possession of first on Thursday.

Their two-day reign at the top of the division, for now, has come to an end after a 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Angels on Saturday inside a sold-out Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers staged a ninth-inning rally to tie it, but fell short in the 10th as Angels right fielder Kole Calhoun ripped a solo shot off Kenley Jansen -- his third home run of the series -- to give the visitors the lead.
