LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers added left-hander Grant Dayton to the bullpen before Thursday's finale against the Nationals, rewarding the pitcher who has arguably been the Dodgers' top minor league relief pitcher this season.
Zach Walters was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City and, to make room on the 40-man roster for Dayton, Chris Hatcher was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.
Dayton, 28, has a 2.44 ERA in 35 appearances between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City, with 85 strikeouts and 10 walks in 48 innings. He has struck out 85 of 183 batters this season, a remarkable 46.
