The contract situation with Trea Turner is going to be something to watch out for all year. The Dodgers apparently did not plan to offer him an extension before the season, and it’s unclear if anything there has changed.
So as it stands, Trea is set to hit free agent this offseason. That’s an interesting spot for the Dodgers considering they do not have a big-league shortstop waiting in the wings. So letting him go would likely mean they were in the market.
But Bryce Harper is starting his Trea campaign early. When asked by Bob Nightengale this week about Turner, the perennial MVP candidate had a lot of really good things to say about him.
