Roki Sasaki, the latest Japanese phenom the Los Angeles Dodgers hoped to acquire ahead of the 2025 season, will likely remain in Nippon Professional Baseball for another, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
This season Sasaki has a 6-3 record with a 2.20 ERA. Despite his numbers, his control has been Sasaki’s ongoing struggle.
His performances haven’t been reflective of the Japanese sensation’s best starts on the mound. Sasaki has a career-low 4.10 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He has retired 82 batters and posted 20 walks in just 69 2/3 innings, yielding 52 hits.
Sasaki’s numbers could be the reason he’s having second thoughts about making the move to the MLB so soon.
