For three years now, Yasiel Puig has loomed large in the Dodgers’ fortunes. They apparently would like it if he wasn’t as large in 2016.
President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman indicated the team thinks losing weight and getting in better shape would be a first step towards a bounceback season for Puig next year. Hamstring injuries limited the outfielder to 79 games in 2015 and career lows in every statistical category.
Friedman said he thought there were a couple keys to Puig bouncing back in 2016.
“One is putting his body in the best position to play 150-plus games,” he said.
