Dodgers' Andre Ethier faces long stretch on the sidelines with leg injury

Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier suffered a fracture in his right tibia when he fouled a ball off his shin last week.

GLENDALE, Ariz. – For a little while, Andre Ethier thought he was in the clear.

Fouling a ball off his right shin last Friday was painful but he had done that many times before and the X-rays showed no damage. Then he tried to stand up the next morning and the morning after that and the morning after that.

“We got those X-rays and they were negative,” Ethier said Thursday, leaning on crutches in front of his locker.
