The Dodgers will take on the Royals this afternoon for the second game of the three-game series in Kansas City. Before first pitch last night, the Royals honored the late Vin Scully with a touching in-stadium tribute. Today, both the Dodgers and Royals will pay their respects to another icon in Jackie Robinson as well as honor the rich history of the Negro Leagues.
LA will be wearing the Brooklyn Dodgers 1955 jerseys, with the Royals donning 1945 Kansas City Monarchs jerseys – both jerseys that Robinson wore during his professional playing career.
Jerseys, hats, batting helmets, and more from today’s game will be auctioned off with all proceeds going to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum which is based in Kansas City.
