LOS ANGELES – The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies took the same approach to opposing the Dodgers’ Alex Wood. They planned to swing early and swing often.
For the Diamondbacks, it was a rousing success. They doused the left-hander in hard-hit balls, notching eight hits in 12/3 innings, including two home runs, before he was bounced in the worst outing of his professional career.
For the Rockies, the same game plan was a fantastic failure. They had one hit in eight innings against Wood on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium, piling up easy outs as the Dodgers cruised to a quick 2-0 victory.
