LOS ANGELES -- With the anticipated Friday return of reliever Josh Fields from the paternity list, the Dodgers made a series of roster moves on Thursday.
Right-handed pitcher Zach Neal, who was added to the roster to replace Fields and made one relief appearance in Arizona, was designated for assignment.
That cleared a 40-man roster spot, which the Dodgers filled by claiming right-handed pitcher Alec Asher from the Baltimore Orioles. Asher, who has pitched in 18 Major League games, was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
The Dodgers also lost right-handed pitcher Jesus Liranzo on a waiver claim to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
