Dodgers add Yaisel Sierra, latest investment in Cuban player

Cuban RHP Yaisel Sierra signed with the Dodgers for six years and $30 million

GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Dodgers have been baseball’s biggest investor in the Cuban market. So far, the return on that investment has been modest, to say the least.

The signing of right-hander Yaisel Sierra to a six-year, $30 million contract was made official Sunday and Sierra was added to the 40-man roster. Starting with the signing of outfielder Yasiel Puig nearly four years ago, the Dodgers have now invested over $200 million in nine Cuban players ranging in age from 18 to 30 years old (a tab that grows when the tax for exceeding their international signing bonus pool is added).
