The Dodgers traded a player to be named later or cash to Seattle for left-hander Tyler Olson on Friday.
Olson is a 26-year-old who made his major-league debut last April against the Angels. He finished the 2015 season with 13 1/3 innings in the majors, at a 5.40 ERA. He also struck out 53 men in 54 1/3 Triple-A innings, mostly in relief.
He has a 3.86 career minor-league ERA.
To make room for Olson on their 40-man roster, the Dodgers designated right-hander Daniel Reynolds for assignment. They had claimed Reynolds off waivers from the Angels during the Winter Meetings.
