LOS ANGELES -- In what has to be the earliest player to be named later in recent memory, the Dodgers have already completed their morning trade of Darwin Barney to the Blue Jays, acquiring minor league catcher Jack Murphy from Toronto.
Murphy, 27, hit .220/.309/.315 in 85 games for Double-A New Hampshire, with 15 doubles, two triples, three home runs and 37 walks. He reached Triple-A in both the 2013 and 2014 seasons, and in seven minor league seasons has hit .228/.310/.361.
Toronto drafted Murphy in the 31st round in 2009, and invited him to spring training as a non-roster invitee in both 2014 and 2015.
