The line of major-league teams waiting to host an All-Star Game is always a long one. If it seems like the Dodgers have been in line forever, well, they have. Dodger Stadium hasn’t hosted the annual event since 1980.
Thirty-five years and more than $150 million in renovations later, the park is overdue.
By 2018, when Washington D.C. hosts the most recently awarded All-Star Game, every current major-league city will have hosted at least one game since Los Angeles hosted it last. The Indians, White Sox, Astros, Pirates, Giants, Angels, Twins, Padres and Reds will have hosted the game twice.
