The Los Angeles Dodgers made one pick on Day 1 of the 2021 MLB Draft, taking Maddux Bruns out of UMS-Wright Preparatory School in Alabama with the No. 29 overall selection in the first round.
It marked the first time the team took a high school left-handed pitcher in the first round since Clayton Kershaw in 2006. While Bruns verbally committed to play college ball for Mississippi State, he believes signing with the Dodgers is the more likely outcome.
The Dodgers did not have a second-round pick but still added a slew of players on Day 2 of the 2021 MLB Draft, making eight total selections from Rounds 3-10.
