The departure of Jason Heyward from the Los Angeles Dodgers clubhouse was especially difficult for manager Dave Roberts.
“It was very challenging, probably one of the tougher things I’ve had to do,” Roberts told Mike DiGiovanna of The Los Angeles Times ahead of Friday night’s series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays. “What Jason did for the Dodgers in a year and a half was pretty remarkable, on the field, in the clubhouse, in the community, and his fingerprint will be everlasting.”
Many speculated that Heyward cemented his spot on the roster after he hit a tie-breaking three-run homer as a pinch-hitter in Tuesday night’s 6-3 win over the Seattle Mariners.
