LOS ANGELES — The accolades for manager Dave Roberts’ first season as Dodgers skipper continue to pour in. This was kind of buried under some other news earlier in the week, but on Thursday Roberts was named 2016 Coach of the Year by the Los Angeles Sports Council.
Roberts will be honored at the LA Sports Awards on Monday, Feb. 27 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
In his first year with the Dodgers, Roberts led his team to a 91-71 record and a fourth straight National League West title, despite using 15 starting pitchers and seeing a record 28 different players make trips to the disabled list, including losing ace Clayton Kershaw for over 10 weeks.
