Prior to the start of the current homestand, the Los Angeles Dodgers had been mired in their worst stretch of the season, losing 15 of 20 games and falling to third place in the National League West.
The club struggled to consistently runs but also wasn’t playing defense to the best of their ability. L.A. improved on both of those fronts in their two-game Interleague series against the Seattle Mariners, scoring a combined 13 runs while not committing any errors.
“I think the overall team defense has been considerably better,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Wednesday’s 7-1 win.
